Clean Air for everyone

Clean air is essential for a healthy life. Unfortunately, in many places the air is very polluted, which causes many health problems. In the Netherlands, 18,000 people per year die ten years prematurely due to the concentrations of particulate matter in the air. Children, in particular, suffer the consequences of air pollution. They are more likely to have respiratory problems, suffer from allergies and develop weak lungs. Through the ‘Clean air for everyone’ project it is possible to make a contribution that will help make the air a bit cleaner for everyone. The ‘Clean air for everyone’ project is structured around the areas shown below. For each of these, partners will be sought who are capable of making a difference in a particular area.

Participating as a partner

In order to involve partners and relevant stakeholders in this project, Syntens is organising a number of sessions to which it will invite parties who are or wish to be involved in this theme. If you represent the business community, the government, an NPO or an environmental protection group and are interested in becoming a partner for one of the four areas, please attend one of the upcoming gatherings at Corpus (www.corpus-experience.nl) in Leiden. The first gathering, focused on the group ‘Children’ took place on 6 April 2011. The date of the next gathering will be announced soon and will focus on ‘Vulnerable groups’. You can register to attend by sending an email to: nettie.vanderkroft@syntens.nl
